Remembering George Kennedy, Dr. George Nichopoulous, Andy Bathgate, Lenny Baker
George Kennedy was the veteran character actor who distinguished himself originally in “Cool Hand Luke” (1967) playing opposite Paul Newman. He won the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for the role. Then he went on to a memorable performance in “Airport” (1970) and a wonderful comedy turn in the “Naked Gun” series. Dr. George Nichopoulous was Elvis Presley’s doctor in Memphis, who was involved in the scandal over Elvis’s prescription medicine’s, which may have caused his death. Andy Bathgate was a wonderful stickhandler and passer who played a key role for the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. Lenny Baker was the vocalist and saxophone player for the 1950’s throwback band Sha Na Na.
