The term "toxic" masculinity in itself is a detriment to the overall perception of black males in the African-American home life. I believe practices carried out in slave ownership and "slavery mindset maintenance" have made their way into our modern perception of the world around us and our perspective about ourselves and others. To break it means to break away from a systematic way of thinking and being that we have allowed ourselves to be sold on and told that it is the "way." How do we break away? How do we overcome the "system" within ourselves as well as the "system" we live in?
