Re-Issue ep from 4th Feb 2020 -  Today on the Toy Power Podcast, we welcome another international guest all the way from Canada, Mr Colin Betts! While he's a Patreon and passionate toy collector he also delves into a oft-forgotten world of Toy Catalogues. But these aren't the small paper ones you get with your toys, these are big retail tomes sent by Hasbro, Mattel etc to help sell their wares in a time before PDFs! Colin gives us the history, some wonderful stories and tricks of the trade when it comes to these important historical documents. Some might be cut-out, some might be smelly or eve tattoo'd but they all form a wonderful tapestry of the toys we love - and even the toys that never were! Oh what could have been.... Colin then puts on his economics hat with a 3min break down of what makes the toy industry great and bad that will melt your face! Follow him and all that he does on IG @fairplaythings and @toycatalogmemories. Also check out his friends show http://pleasesavemerobot/

This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; we have a few scheduling conflicts, so it's just Ben & Scot in the studio; with the always entertaining Mr. Davey Damaged joining us as well!!  Kicking things into gear, we discuss the latest News that is hitting our radar.  With a heart-felt tribute to some of the recent passings; we reflect on what some of these larger than life people have done; & how each of them will be missed.  Then we chat towards the very lack-luster reveal of King Hiss from the MOTU Chronicles line.  Peacemaker from Mezco 1:12 is arguably the definitive Toy version of this character we will likely ever get!  McFarlane wrap things up with their Wave 16 of DC Super Powers - with an interesting line-up of Characters.  But with this being the finale; who are we missing from this overall toy line-up?  PlayStation One are getting the Lego treatment; which honestly looks great; but what is with their Easter Egg game choices?!  Then we pivot into a general chat towards Latest Scores & then followed up with Reading / Playing / Watching.  An overall fun episode - if not for Ben continually tripping over his sentences!

Davey plugged the New Australiana Book by: Fridalasvegas -Australianarama - A Campendium Of Kitsch - an awesome history of what makes Australia so unique!!

This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; we spotlight one of the more modern Toy Companies, that are really making headlines!  Call them a Model-Kit, or call them a Building Kit; The Blokees Franchise seems to have something for everyone!  With a spotlight on their history & diverse price brackets, they now have under their banner.  It seems like Blokees are here to stay!  So we give you the run-down on what you should know; before you dive head first into this fun line.  Then we have an in-hand review of the New Playmates Wave Two - TMNT X Godzilla figures.  Consisting of Donatello X Jet Jaguar, Splinter X King Caesar & Shredder X Mechagodzilla.  Scot & Frank famously rated Wave One of these toys pretty high last year; does this second wave also get that esteemed praise or not?  Enjoy.

This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; even though we are Celebrating our 10th Year of Podcasting; we unfortunately exhausted all our energy on the Previous SDCC Reveals & Announcements Ep.  So we are giving you a ReIssue episode instead from the Vault. (Originally Posted as Ep #143 - from October 2019).

Original blurb: It’s a very special ep as we’re joined by not one, but two of favourite guests in Davey Damaged and Scotty so that’s right – it’s a Homer episode! Trent takes us through a vintage retrospective look at The Addams family by Playmates. Perfectly timed for Halloween, we wonder what could have been with this short-lived line and look to the future of the franchise as a new movie approaches. What characters didn’t get made, which ones make the camera glow and where does MC Hammer fit into it all? We make the jump to Show and Tell as Davey tries to trump us all with a purchase so large, we doubt it will actually fit in his toy room! There’s some DC, MOTU and even Final Fantasy options to choose from. Frank gives a lovely tribute showing that sometimes, the value of a toy; lays in more than its sticker price. Then it’s Quiz time and with Davey onboard, anything is possible. To say this episode goes off the rails is putting it mildly – but on the plus side we learnt that Trent can’t hold his liquor, Ben thinks photos record sound, Space Jam was an event and Rick Moranis is Trent’s muse. So hold on for this crazy ride that also serves as a farewell for one of the team…
