Hailing from Cleveland Ohio, multi-hyphenate Malika combines a deep love for writing, filmmaking, curating, photography, sound and performance, creating where – in her words – the sacred meets the profane.
Malika shares the inspiration behind The Way Our Tongues Move, a series of performed portraits merging the micro and the macro to honour the legacy of her favourite uncle David – one of a generation of young gay men across the United States in the 80s and 90s who lost their lives to the HIV Aids epidemic.
Malika talks digging into family archives, ancestral storytelling and her first experience diving into drag.
