On this occasion, we invited Veronica Ayu Pangestika as President of Girl Up UGM 2021 to talk about gender construction and pop culture in today’s society. All this time, most individuals have internalized social expectations and norms of gender construction to behave accordingly. Yet, it turns out that it could be oppressive and result in gender inequality. We also discuss several strands of feminism, and how ideas of gender are represented in mainstream entertainment.
