Tracking the Tapes: 1976 Waycross - Mrs. Henry Bell

Listen Later

Welcome to this installment of Tracking the Tapes where we are digitizing the Okefenokee Regional Library and WAYX Radios' celebration tapes from 1976.

This tape includes Mrs. Henry Bell discussing her ancestors who founded Waycross, the Daughters/Son of the Confederacy, Girl Scouts, Tebeauville, The land before Downtown Waycross became what it is now, life in early Waycross and so so so much!

Mrs. Bell mentions her family line of the Remshart's, who's family members inspired all the current Downtown street names we have today!

This personally is one of my favorites tapes I have heard so far, from her tone of voice to the way she explains herself. What a gift it is to archive this tape! - Harlen

Thank you for listening. @TrackingtheX
