At Foundry, our vision is simple.

Jesus is Big Enough.

Once it is said, the complexity begins. It opens up a whole range of emotions. We've talked about the Dark side of Jesus is Big Enough. When we begin searching for a bigger vision for our world, we realize that our own vision is simply inadequate. We need to see and understand God's vision for our world.

Jesus is Big Enough

This Sunday, we are going to look at some familiar parts of scripture to Foundry. We are going to talk about what this year in ministry looks like for us. Part of this is understanding the idea of permanent space for us as a church. The other part of it is understanding how this doesn't mean we can rest or sit back. It doesn't mean we stop behaving like a start-up, mission focused and intentional. It doesn't mean we get to be a "real church" now (yes, we have heard that statement).

It means Jesus is Big Enough.

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father's one and only Son.

15 John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, "This is the one I was talking about when I said, 'Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.'"

16 From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.17 For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father's heart. He has revealed God to us. John 1:14-18

We understand "Big Enough" by understanding the relationship Jesus has to our world (Foundry refers to the 4 assumptions) and what He is here for. As Jesus is a revealer to us, we understanding part of our mission to be revealing to other folks. Us, as a church, doing a myriad of things which cause them to experience a God big enough for their needs. As it says earlier in John, Jesus is bringing light to dark places. As the prophet Isaiah foretold, "he is making the paths straight" and "prepare my highway for the people to return", our mission is to serve as that trailblazer for Jesus. And as John told us, he is full of unfailing love and faithfulness, because our God is full of unfailing love and faithfulness.
