Cassandra cracks the door open to talk about her suffering a catastrophic injury that left her bedridden for several months. Upon slowly regaining her strength,  she came face to face with another tragedy.  Her husband's addictions to alcohol and painkillers over those months had worsened, and he neglected to open any mail, pay any bills, or pay their loans and mortgages.  She was completely devastated and faced with bankruptcy and foreclosures. Losing everything.
