I’m Rachel Sturges and in this brand new podcast from Onehunga FM, I’ll be taking a closer look at big developments and infrastructure projects being planned in my back yard.

As the former editor of the Onehunga Community News, I spent 6 years following various developments in the neighbourhood… and one of the biggest proposals has been the Auckland Light Rail project.

The plan is for the ARL to come right through Onehunga. So, in this first season of IMBY, I’m doing a deep dive into

• where its route could go, 
• how will it affect urban growth, congestion and climate
• what are the merits and concerns around the project, and
• will it ever stop being a political football?
