Mysterium Madness

Trailer: The Murder of Effie May Roecker

Listen Later

It’s the beginning of the roaring 20’s in Kansas City Missouri. The soldiers of WWI are back as working civilians. People are moving from the farms to the booming metropolis. Kansas City would become the “Paris of the Plains.” It’s beautiful water fountains made to quench the thirst of the busy horses would eventually function as beautiful art for the eye to behold. The Electric railway is taking over the horses job and the automobile will soon over take them both. Unfortunately, crime comes with growth. In late 1921, 5 black women are brutally strangled to death in the Greater Kansas City area. The police think the same person or persons are involved. On January 31, 1922, Effie May Roecker, an out of work motion picture pianist, will walk into a similar fate. Though Effie is white her heinous murder is similar to the other women. Who committed this crime? Join us on the next episode of Mysterium.
