Train Up A Child

It's another Soul Soothing Sunday!

Proverbs 22:6 says, Train up a child in the way he should go, andwhen he is old, he will not depart from it.   Often we read this verse adding emphasis in this way: Train up a child in the way he SHOULD go, andwhen he is old, he will not depart from it.
What if  we read it like this... Train up a child in the way HE should go, andwhen he is old, he will not depart from it.

Our kids are not ours to mold into a future we choose for them.  If we truly believe that God is the potter, then what are we molding?  God already has a purpose for our children. Our privilege and responsibility as their parents is to help our kids be mold-able.  We help them to be good, pliable, workable clay.  But we are not shaping their future.  We give them back to the artist for that. He has prepped them already with talents and interests and passions.  Those are ours to watch for, help develop, and celebrate.
