In the US we have collectively dropped the ball with regards to mental health. We either pretend the problem isn’t there, throw money at it in hopes it fixes itself, demonize those who actually want to face this issue honestly, or we attempt to force people to acquiesce to the delusions of the mentally afflicted. This story is a perfect example of the chaotic confusion enabled when we do all of the above and pretending that there is nothing wrong with these circumstances will not help this woman and her husband's mental health.
