EMS Closet was founded in in Columbia in 2019 by three generations of educators to meet the needs of children living in poverty. EMS provides gift bags of new and nearly new clothing, shoes, new underwear and socks, a stuffed animal, and a book to children in grades K-12 in Richland School Districts One and Two whose families have encountered hardship. 'It’s not a law enforcement problem,' he said. Schools, neighborhoods, churches, the courts, all need to join together to confront the problem. “We’ve never had that. Nobody wants to come together,' he said." How can we, disciples of Christ, come together and get to work on addressing such a hot topic issue?
