The BBC's documentary series Blue Planet 11 has brought awareness of the problem of plastic in our oceans. The ongoing issue of plastic is something which effects both wildlife and ourselves. Our lifestyles need to change, and we all need to cut down on plastic and try to find alternatives. In Belper things are changing, we now have a Refill scheme where businesses have agreed to fill up reusable bottles with drinking water. We have a fantastic greengrocer where fruit and vegetables can be bought without plastic, and Morrisons will allow you to take in your own containers for meat and fish.
To help people see the extent of the problem and to inspire them to think about how we use plastic, we have a showing of the award winning documentary ‘A Plastic Ocean’, which will be shown in St Peter’s on Friday 21st September 2018.
The doors will open at 7.00pm and free refreshments will be available, with the film starting at 7.30pm.
