In this episode I discuss the various option available to a manual tester to fireproof their life, by moving into development.Transition from software tester to developer .

A lot of people get stuck in testing and specially manual testing, specially in companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys and other.

Now testing jobs are much better then Production support jobs, but again you are not learning anything, specially in Manual testing.

Even if a tester feels that he/she is adding value to the project but the management doesn't think so. They think experienced testers as liabilities.

Most of the experienced manual tester job can be done my a junior tester also and so, again most are kicked after 5-10 years of experience.

Manual testers have one more option then Support people and ie to learn automation and fireproof their career.

Automation testing is development in disguise, as you have to write test cases in python or Java.

When you learn any programming language, you become invinsible as a lot of doors open for you.

Now, you can even become a web-app developer by learning HTML, CSS, JS and React.

So, my advise to all manual testers is to learn programming and become an automation tester or an web-app developer.
