This Year’s Artist in Residence, the transgender actress Alexandra Billings’ visit to campus will culminated in a talk entitled “Transparent: On Being a Transgender Performer in Hollywood,”
Alexandra Billings plays Davina on the Amazon show Transparent. In 2005, she became the first transgender actress to play a transgender character in the history of television. She has been acting since 1968, performing across the United States in hundreds of plays and musicals, and appearing on TV shows including How to Get Away with Murder and Grey’s Anatomy. The PBS documentary about her life, Schoolboy to Showgirl, was nominated for an Emmy.
