Ishmael Beah was a child soldier in Sierra Leone and survived to speak the unspeakable, writing about the horrors of war and how as a child he overcame the hijacking of his childhood in his best seller, A Long Way Gone. In her work for the UN, Priscillia Kounkou Hoveyda negotiated with a dozen terrorist groups across Africa to secure the release of over 1,000 child soldiers and helped reintegrate girls used as weapons of war into their communities.
