Can trauma be healed? Is it hereditary? Malek Bajbouj is a psychiatrist and neurologist at the Charité Hospital in Berlin. He works with traumatized patients from Arabic-speaking countries in a specially created outpatient clinic.

Many refugees come to him and he is collaborating with fellow-doctors in Jordan. A few years ago, he set up a project in Syria offering psychological help to people traumatized by war. DW visits the therapist to find out how science can help overcome trauma.
