Buckle up, because we are hitting the road for this episode of “The Power of PennWest” podcast. We are taking a trip with PennWest students and faculty as we explore the unique opportunities of studying abroad.
Traveling abroad and learning about other cultures allows PennWest students and faculty to gain a global perspective, enhance their academic experience and develop cultural awareness and adaptability.
Our three guests today have participated in short and long-term trips to other countries to expand their research horizons, foster international collaboration and become more well-rounded.
Dr. Melissa Gibson, professor and graduate head of PennWest’s master’s program in corporate communication, has led trips abroad to European countries such as Spain, Italy and Greece. She’ll discuss her travels and how she incorporates teaching experiences to her exploration.
Next, we have Allison Dobrinski, who studies history, pre-law, theater history and literature at the California campus. She was one of 23 PennWest students to travel to Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway to discover the rich, cultural history of Scandinavia.
And finally, we have Mattie Carey, an art education major and honors student at the Edinboro campus. To fully immerse herself in her academic program, Mattie spent a semester in Greece – studying the art, architecture and history of the region.
