Druid Mara takes Kalron on a raft toward an island where she believes a dragon nests. Her spontaneous companion seeks to possibly query a dragon about Gaiwan’s mysterious crystal, uncaring of the extreme danger he risks to them both. Meanwhile, close on his trail, Enchanter Gaiwan and companions arrive at the Druid Temple, seeking assistance in their search for the fugitive Dark Mage. Situations lead Gaiwan to approach a female friend – a woman with whom he almost had an intimate encounter – amongst the Druids. Her discovery of his marriage complicates matters.
