It’s not Treksploration, it’s a documentary about making Treksploration…
Alright, so picture this, right? So, the hosts Chris and Albie, along with The Beautiful John Irons, are goin’ deep, you know? They’re gettin’ into the nitty-gritty of what Starfleet’s all about. Are they the good guys, out there keepin’ the peace? Or are they just, like, the space version of those old-timey dudes plantin’ a flag wherever they land? Heavy stuff, man.
But here’s the kicker: the whole episode is shot like a documentary. And apparently, it was a total swing and a miss. The podcast crew and a lotta folks watchin’ were like, “What the hell is this?” They found it clunky, man, totally took ’em out of the story.
When they get into their first takes, it’s a mixed bag. They’re givin’ props to some of the actors, sayin’ they crushed it, and some of the lines were pure poetry. But at the end of the day, they were just kinda let down by the whole thing. The story just didn’t hang together, you know? It’s like, you gotta have the whole package, the story’s gotta mean somethin’.
They’re breakin’ down the morality of it all, the tough choices these Starfleet cats have to make, and how this mockumentary style was supposed to make it all feel more “real.” They’re diggin’ into the characters and the feels, and how sci-fi can be this awesome mirror to our own messed-up world. But even with all that, they’re landin’ on “good effort, but no cigar.” The actors are bringin’ their A-game, but the plot’s got more holes than a screen door on a battleship.
And of course, ’cause it’s a fan podcast, they get into all the fun stuff. They’re talkin’ character crushes, nitpickin’ little details, and riffing on this weird Thanksgiving scene. They’re even throwin’ out theories about where the characters are headed next. It’s all in good fun, with some trivia and final scores thrown in, a real blend of laughin’ it up and seriously breakin’ it down. So yeah, sounds like a classic fan deep-dive: lovin’ the world, but not afraid to call ’em out when an episode just doesn’t stick the landing.
