In Mark 1:35–39, Jesus steps away from the crowds and the demands around him to spend time alone with his Father. That time shapes how he sees himself, where he goes next, and how he responds to the needs around him.

This week’s message explores Colossians 3:12–17 and what it means to become a people who live together in the way of Jesus.Paul begins with a simple but challenging reality: following Jesus changes the way we live with other people. He calls the church to put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, and then gives an especially difficult command: “Bear with one another” and “forgive each other.”That sounds beautiful until we remember that Christian community is made up of real people. People disappoint us. They misunderstand us. They have different personalities, preferences, and expectations. Sometimes they hurt us. And sometimes we are the ones who make community difficult.So what makes life together possible?Paul points us back to what Christ has already done. “As the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” The Christian community is not built by finding people who are naturally compatible. It is formed by people who have received the grace of Jesus and are learning to extend that grace to one another.Paul then points toward something even deeper: the peace of Christ is meant to rule among us, the Word of Christ is meant to dwell richly among us, and our shared worship is meant to continually redirect our attention toward the One who holds us together.Life together will never be perfect. But it can become a place where the character of Jesus becomes visible. As Christ teaches us to forgive, serve, worship, and make room for one another, He forms a community that begins to look more like Him.

Community Is a Gift | Acts 2:38–47Christian community is a gift.In Acts 2, Luke describes a church made up of people who did not naturally choose one another, yet were gathered together by Jesus. Most of us believe contentment comes when life finally settles down. When the problems are solved, the finances improve, or the future becomes clear.

The Apostle Paul discovered something entirely different.

Writing from prison and reflecting on both hardship and God's faithfulness, Paul reveals the secret of a life that isn't controlled by changing circumstances. His confidence wasn't found in comfort or success, but in Christ, who gave him strength in every season.

What defines your life?

Most of us build our identity around accomplishments, relationships, success, security, or reputation. But what happens when those things are threatened or taken away?

In Philippians 1:12–26, the apostle Paul writes from prison and offers a radically different perspective. His circumstances are difficult. His future is uncertain. His reputation is under attack. Yet he remains full of hope because his life is anchored in something deeper.

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

What does it mean to be a partner in the Gospel?When Paul writes to the church in Philippi, he doesn’t simply thank them for their support. He rejoices because they have become partners in God’s mission.
