WE’RE RECAPPING POPULAR TOPICS, THIS TIME? CREATIVITY.

Back in Episode 4 of the podcast, we talked about:

  1. The fact that Radio Imaging is more than just words and can encompass everything from words through to chosen sound effects and music.
  2. Golden rules for writing great copy to connect directly with your listener.

    Of course, ideas can sometimes be the hardest bit, and in Episode 17 we talked about 10 thought starters:

    1. Write in the language of the destination of your trip giveaway.
    2. Use old school sound effects for old school promos.
    3. Build your own bank of creative sounds.
    4. Borrow ideas from other mediums.
    5. Think about implementation so your work isn’t too complicated to play out.
    6. Write as if your work is going to be a tweet (when it was 140 characters).
    7. Mothers Day Promo? Call your mum and talk with her, use the outtakes to do something!
    8. Think What If when writing a promo?
    9. Buy secondhand instruments/toys and sample them/yourself.
    10. Try making crap midi music to use as a juxtaposition in your music.

      11. These ten ideas are part of a wider selection of 100 you can get here. Sometimes just getting different perspectives and approaches can help get those creative juices flowing.

      SOME OF OUR GUESTS HAVE GIVEN GREAT CREATIVITY ADVICE

      The first guest was in Episode 18 with Alastair Boyes from IMGR where he talked about his technique: “keep writing. Write as many as ideas as possible then test them on others to find the best few to make.”

      The next guest to talk about Creativity was Staxx from Z100, New York in Episode 23. The big takeaway from him was this: “Think visually. Let the words and production flow from what you see in your mind.”
