In this episode of TRIP we’re talking: Mentors. It’s a topic that’s come up a few times in previous episodes, especially the Behind The Scenes series.
As part of his five tips he talked about these two things:
Both of which are great points to remember. Having a coach can speed up your learning, as can sharing your work with others!
He talked about networking with your peers and how networking can build a group of mentors you can trade ideas with, share work and generally improve your work by doing this.
It’s really important to find yourself a mentor who can help you with your work. Just having someone to send work to from time to time to get an idea of how you could improve can be extremely beneficial. If you’re really committed try to have more than one mentor so you always get contrasting opinions on your work to make sure you’re picking up as much as you can from what you’re doing.
But you’ve got to be careful…
“Don’t be an A-hole” which is just a great quote. But mostly, “Sit down, be humble.” It’s hard not to agree.
