Why would Jesus one minute instruct His disciples to preach that The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and, immediately following this command, instruct them to flee from persecution? If the Kingdom of Heaven really was at hand, why would they need to fear persecution and suffering? This sermon begins a two-part series on this and other such difficult questions that arise from Matthew 10:16-25 so that Jesus' words can be properly understood and applied to our everyday lives.
