Part 2: It Gets Worse. So in 1976, like mid 1976, Joseph James DeAngelo Jr. was believed to have moved to Sacramento. And he ended up progressing from burglary to rape. The crimes were mostly in Carmichael, Citrus Heights, and Rancho Cordova which is east of Sacramento, and on June 18th, 1976, the first attack as the East Area Rapist occurred at 4:00 am. This man did terrible, terrible things to women and their families over the months he lived in Sacramento, and we break them down for you here. But long story short, we're glad he's behind bars and paying for his crimes.
