Brian Klock sits down with Mickey Harris, one of the most accomplished airbrush artists in the country, at his studio in Menno, South Dakota.

Mickey's story is something else. He picked up an airbrush for the first time with zero experience, got put in a shop window as a live attraction, and by 1981 was painting leather jackets and choppers at Sturgis back when the whole rally was four blocks of Main Street and everyone paid in cash. From there he went on to paint custom vehicles at SEMA, publish Airbrush Magazine for six years, teach seminars across the US, Canada, and Europe and quietly become part of the Pentagon Art Program, contributing to the largest art gallery in the United States.

In this episode, Mickey walks Brian through his latest project: a custom turbo trike covered in 250 hours of hand-airbrushed American history, from Washington Crossing the Delaware to the moon landing to 9/11, built to benefit the Combat Control Foundation, which supports Air Force Combat Controllers, the elite operators who embed with Navy SEALs and Delta Force. The trike will be on display at Sturgis this year before heading to Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas in September, where 100% of proceeds go to the foundation.

Mickey also tells the story of unveiling a painting at the Pentagon with the Chief of Staff of the Air Force with his retired fighter pilot father watching from the audience.
