In the 1st week of the True Roots Discipleship Course, Dan and Andy discuss Jesus's 1st and greatest commandment from Matthew 22:37-38, which says: 'And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.'
They share what this looks like to walk out in our lives and how Jesus reorients our whole lives with this command. Dan shares an analogy about the lunch tray, and how many Christians, look at Jesus as a space on the lunch tray...however, He is the whole tray, and what holds everything together in our lives.
To truly love Him fully, we have to give Him everything we have on our tray and surrender it over to Him. This weeks question asks exactly that: 'What's on your tray?' Spend 5-10 minutes asking the Holy Spirit to reveal what's on your tray and then sit with Jesus and surrender them over to Him in prayer, saying: 'Jesus, I give you _________ and surrender it all to you, your will be done.'
As we begin to give Him everything on our tray, we will begin to know Him in deeper ways, as we walk in deeper unity with Him. This can be challenging and difficult, but it brings greater peace and joy as we walk with Him through it and let Him be Lord over all.
