Luke 14:13-14 (ESV): ‭‭"But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just."

In this episode Dan and Andrew discuss Luke 14:13-14. In this they share about how the Holy Spirit has convicted them in asking the question: 'Do I even have many poor in my life?' To be able to invite the poor we have to be with the poor. Jesus invites us to intentionally be His hands and feet. He is with the poor.

He loves the poor and He asks us to invite them to the feast, which means they are in our lives and we are in there's. This can be and is messy, and it's meant to be.

God didn't ask us to separate ourselves as He cleans our souls and lives up. He never separated us from the messy...but asks us to turn around and share the saving grace we've received and the gifts He's given us with others who are in need.

In this episode, Dan and Andrew discuss Matthew 21:13 (ESV):

‭‭He said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you make it a den of robbers."

They discuss what God's goal always is: Relationship. The anger stirred inside Him when He turned tables over was about exactly that: People getting in the way of people meeting Him.

Prayer is connection with Jesus, it's connecting with Him, spending time with Him, listening to Him. It's a relatioinship...and anything that gets in the way, God wants flipped over/removed from His temple.

And where is that temple that He dwells in now? Our heart

In this episode Dan and Andrew discuss Matthew 18:21-22 (ESV)

‭‭"Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times."

Peter thought he was giving a generous amount of forgiveness and Jesus blows it out of the water with His response. Jesus understood what unforgiveness does to the soul and how bitterness, anger, fear, and control can take root.

Dan and Andrew discuss the process of forgiveness as well and how many times it takes 77 times + to truly forgive someone. It's not a one time act, but a continual surrender and choice to forgive and asking His Spirit for help in forgivining.

Luke 12:15 (AMP): ‭‭"Then He said to them, "Watch out and guard yourselves against every form of greed; for not even when one has an overflowing abundance does his life consist of nor is it derived from his possessions."

Yes, Dan and Andrew discuss finances, but this passage has much more in it than just financial wisdom. It's about all forms of greed.

No matter what we have or receive from Jesus, if the thing becomes the place we find joy or purpose, we will leave empty.

Because if we have Jesus, we already have everything...we've gained everything.

"See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven."

This is a great discussion about remembering where Jesus rescued us from and not becoming like a pharisee in how we see new Christ followers. Dan and Andrew give antidotes from their own lives about how this has played out and what Jesus has taught them in it.

Deny yourself? Wait, what? Did Jesus really say that? 'Cause that certainly isn't what's taught in a world and country that's all about us.

But here's the reality, the way to fullness of life, is to surrender it all to Jesus and deny ourselves, pick up our cross (die to self) and follow Him.

This is what Dan and Andy discuss in this current episode. What does it profit us to gain the whole world, but lose our soul? (also God's word), answer, it doesn't profit us at all to gain the world and lose our soul...it kills us. We can keep chasing things in life and choosing ourselves, but it will always leave us empty...want full life? Give your life up to Jesus fully.

Trust me, it's worth anything that it costs. He is worth everything.

In this episode Dan and Andy discuss Matthew 11:29 (ESV):

"Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

This episode discusses that rest is not taking a nap (it can be), but often it is in movement. It is in the yoke of Jesus Christ, moving with Him and not against Him.

Dan uses an analogy of a dog going on a walk and being pulled along, and another dog racing out in front and being choked and pulled back. Both would not be in the yoke.

When we walk in His yoke, with Him, the yoke is easy, even when there is work involved and comes from a place of rest and not trying to earn rest
