True spirituality isn’t about performing religious acts or following spiritual formulas – it’s about developing an authentic friendship with God. Jesus warns against two forms of false spirituality: performative spirituality that seeks human applause, and self-reliant spirituality that treats prayer like a magic formula. Genuine friendship with God begins with knowing Him as our loving Father through Christ. This relationship involves spending intentional time in God’s Word, embracing Christian community, and moving beyond religious performance to authentic living. Through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we’re adopted into God’s family and can approach Him with any need or concern.
