Donald Trump and the GOP opened up a two-front war by attacking the Federal Reserve and planning a sequel to the Big Beautiful Bill. By attempting to remove Lisa Cook from the Fed, Trump seeks to stack the board of governors with loyalists who will pursue reckless money printing policies. It won’t be enough to cover the budget deficits that resulted from the Trump tax cuts so the GOP is planning a “sequel” to the Big Beautiful Bill that will further cut Medicaid and target federal student aid.
