There is a lot in this world to upset us. Sometimes just the common, everyday events of life can bring us down. God wants to lift us up. God has given us his Word to help us. Psalm 37 is wisdom to be used to counter the impact of discouragement. It begins with three simple words: Do not fret.

We are given three tasks, each followed by a promise: "Trust in the LORD Delight in the LORD Commit your way to the LORD" (Psalm 37:3-5). God has given us a path to follow. He is the Good Shepherd. His shepherds staff will lead and guide us into the promises awaiting all who follow his lead. When our time of testing is over we will look back on the wisdom given to us. We will rejoice that Psalm 37 began with a simple admonition that was not so simple after all.
