Faith over fear

Trusting God in the midst of trouble

Listen Later

Psalm 3 is a prayer of trust and deliverance written by David while fleeing from his son Absalom’s rebellion. He begins by acknowledging the overwhelming number of enemies rising against him (verses 1-2). Despite this, David declares that God is his shield, his protector, and the one who lifts his head (verse 3). He confidently cries out to God, receives an answer, and finds peace—even able to sleep—because the Lord sustains him (verses 4-6). The psalm ends with David calling on God for victory, affirming that salvation belongs to the Lord, and His blessing is upon His people (verses 7-8).

The key message of Psalm 3 is that no matter how difficult the battle, God is our protector, and we can trust Him to bring victory and peace.
