What is the value of an individual’s word?  How do we discern the authentic from the duplicitous?  In this episode Tiffanee and I discuss why you can’t always accept ideas as given.  When is the message true regardless of the messenger, and when do you seriously need to consider the source of information with scrutiny?

An example of this is acclaimed author Napoleon Hill.  According to Inc. magazine, prior to the publication of the self-help classic, Think and Grow Rich, Hill had never thought and grown rich himself.  None of his ventures ever brought him the fortune that his book professed to produce.  Further, despite the premise of the book being based on the fact that Hill's work was commissioned by Andrew Carnegie, one of the richest men in the world at the time, there's no record of a meeting between the two ever taking place.

Does that mean that the philosophies in the book have no merit?  Countless readers have sworn by the wisdom contained within the pages of Hills seminal work.  On the other hand, does selling a philosophy whose merits have not been demonstrated in your own life make you a fraud?  We will let you decide.

Enjoy!
