Truth of Christ Depends On Bible?

Listen Later

Full Quote From John Clark and Marcus Johnson

"That distinction is between (1) the word of God inscripturated and
proclaimed and (2) the Word of God incarnate. The former refers to the
written word, the Bible, and the preaching of that word. The latter
refers to the eternal and living Son of God, who has existed with and as
God from the very beginning, through whom all things (including the
Bible and preaching) came into being, and who became flesh. The
distinction is crucial, not only for how we conceive of salvation and
the nature of preaching, but also in order to avoid biblicism, and
perhaps even the bibliolatry, that results from a facile identification
of the Bible with the Lord Jesus. To be sure, we must never separate
Christ from his written word, from whom it derives its authority; but
neither can we collapse Christ into his word, as if thebook were itself
the mediator between God and man." (The Incarnation of God Pg 194)
