In this sermon from Daniel 4,Tommy Waltz unpacks the dramatic story of King Nebuchadnezzar—the ruler whose vast kingdom reached the ends of the earth, yet whose pride led God to humble him. Through a vivid dream of a great tree cut down to a stump, Nebuchadnezzar is driven from among men, given the mind of a beast, and made to eat grass for seven periods of time until he learns that "the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will."
Waltz draws a powerful parallel between the king's changed thinking, appetite, and environment and the spiritual condition of every person apart from Christ. He shows how God exposes the true heart, calls for repentance, and offers grace through the "stump of Jesse"—Jesus Christ, the One who was cut down yet rose again to bear fruit. The message closes with a clear gospel invitation: let God change your mind, your desires, and your environment, and come under the rule of the King of heaven who alone is able to humble the proud and restore the broken.
In this Theology Thursday episode of the Truth That Transforms podcast, Tommy and Albert explore the infinite nature of God. Drawing from passages like Psalm 147:5, Romans 11:33, Psalm 145:3, and Isaiah 66:1–2, they contrast humanity's severe limitations—mortality, weakness, limited knowledge, and dependence—with God's unlimited power, omniscience, greatness, and presence beyond space and time.
They also discuss how God freely limits Himself in ways consistent with His character (He cannot sin, contradict logic, or act against His justice and holiness), address common questions about justice, mercy, and "who created God," and offer practical application: journal your limits, pursue the knowledge of God, live a life of praise, and share Him with others.
A rich conversation that points listeners to worship the one true, infinite God.
In this message from Psalm 3, we explore David's cry while fleeing from Absalom and discover how God gives His people victory over both external and internal enemies. The text unfolds in three movements: the reality and nature of our foes, the character of the Lord who is our shield and the lifter of our head, and the response of trust, prayer, and peaceful rest that belongs to those who belong to Him.
Drawing from the psalm and real-life stories of gospel opposition, the sermon calls believers to cry aloud to the Lord, refuse fear, and remember that "salvation belongs to the Lord." It closes with application questions and a clear invitation to place saving faith in Jesus Christ.
