“It Was Just a Little Lie…” But Was It?
This last week at Outreach 419, Chaplain Heidi Woldhuis took us deep into the Ninth Commandment:
“You shall not bear false witness.”
But this message wasn’t about courtroom testimony—it was about the everyday truth distortion that chips away at trust, character, and community.
Lies we tell to protect ourselves. Half-truths that save face. Exaggerations that make us look better. Gossip that gets dressed up as “concern.”
“It’s not just about whether you’re telling the truth—it’s about whether your words reflect the truth of God.”
“If we’re claiming to be a witness of God, and we’re misrepresenting truth… that’s bearing false witness.”
This message is for anyone who’s ever felt the sting of being lied about—or convicted about the words they’ve spoken over others.
💬 Here’s your question to wrestle with:
Are my words building trust and truth—or subtly tearing people (or myself) down?
