Today I am speaking Shelly Mills a successful Dogtopia Franchisee. Before becoming a Franchisee Shelly ran a successful online business from her house. After growing and building that business, Shelly and her husband were ready for their next venture. 

They went on Forbes magazine and searched for the top 500 franchises. Shelly took a similar approach that I did, she talked with existing franchisees and went to quite a few discovery days. After about 2 years of searching and vetting a lot of different franchise options they landed on Dogtopia. 

May of 2017 is when their franchise journey began. They had a lot of challenges to face with construction and their city. Shelly shares with me how she was able to afford an unexpected $40,000 additional cost for construction. 

We talk about how she was able to recruit and retain employees as she got her business off the ground, advice she would give a new franchisee, and how she was able to market her location.
