As you’ve just heard in the news that Gauteng Premier David Makhura has announced that the City of Tshwane has been placed under administration. The City is currently facing a leadership crisis following the resignation of Mayor Stevens Mokgalapa last month. The entire executive which served under Mayor Mokgalapa was dissolved during his resignation. Speaking during a media briefing, Makhura says the Tshwane Council has been dissolved and an Administrator will be appointed to run the Municipality until a new Council is elected in 90 days. Is this about governance or political power? Is it politicians putting their interests first? If I’m a resident of Tshwane, should I be worried?
