In this 50th episode of The Principal Podcast, I present to you a conversation with David C. Banks, the President/CEO of The Eagle Academy Foundation, He was the Founding Principal of The Eagle Academy for Young Men, the first school in a network of innovative all-boys public schools in New York City. The mission of The Eagle Academy for Young Men is to respond to what David Banks calls the crisis impacting primarily Black and Brown boys in New York City. He is quoted as saying, "With the low graduation rate, so many of these young men get in trouble, wind up populating the criminal justice system and we wanted to show, through our work, that it didn't have to be that way," Eagle Academies high school graduation rate is 87% versus the 59% national average for young men of color and 98% of their scholars were accepted to college.
