In this episode, we critique the first episode ever of Doomsday Preppers. While this show goes off the rails at times, there are lessons we can learn from it. Some things we can do, and quite a few things we shouldn’t. We also review the NowLight emergency power option, as well as talk about the recent Facebook notification about extremism.
Doomsday Preppers
If you are new to prepping and have never watched the show Doomsday Preppers, I recommend you do. I will say however, do it with an open mind. While this show is a great way to learn about different aspects of preparedness, the producers intentionally made some of the preppers look bad.
If you’ve been prepping for a little while you have no doubt seen the show, and like us, it’s been a while. That’s why in this week’s show we decided to go back to the very first episode of Doomsday Preppers and give you our thoughts on each of the preppers on the show.
The NowLight
The folks over at Deciwatt recently asked me to do a review of their new product the NowLight. This product basically gives you emergency power when all else fails. If the sun were to get blocked out for a few days, your solar options would get depleted, and this light gives you the option of manpower.
In the video below I went into quite a bit of detail about the NowLight and why I think it’s one of the best options for emergency power in any sort of emergency. It’s not going to run your refrigerator, but it will give you some light, and charge a cell phone when needed.
The Surveillance State
Have you seen the new warning Facebook is adding to people’s feeds? Regardless of whether you are on Facebook or not, this is a major red flag for online privacy when you do anything on the internet. It seems to me that the “fact-checker” and the people talking about “misinformation” are only pointing the finger in one direction.
Because there is so much information available to people these days, it’s harder than ever to control the narrative and keep the people in line. Because of that pesky 1st amendment, people are getting creative on how they go about censorship these days. My concern is that this is just the beginning…we will see.
