This Survival Preppers podcast episode focuses on The Patriot Act, “Extreme” Rhetoric, & Prepper Hate.
The Patriot Act is an act that was passed in 2001 in response to the September 11th attacks. The Act allows for increased surveillance of suspected terrorists. The problem is that it also allows for increased surveillance of citizens without their knowledge or consent. This has led to civil liberty abuses by the government.
The extreme rhetoric of politicians and the mainstream media toward those they disagree with has also been a problem. The mainstream often demonizes the self-reliant prepper community and those like them as crazy survivalists as unhinged, dangerous, and an oddity.
The reality is that most preppers are just regular people who are concerned about being prepared for emergencies. The hate directed toward preppers is unwarranted, counterproductive, and discourages people from becoming more self-reliant and prepared.
