Surf Report for San Diego California

Tsunami Advisory and High Rip Current Risks Threaten Southern California Beaches Today Surf Conditions Challenging

Listen Later

Surf's up, wave riders! This is your coastal connection with some critical updates for Orange and San Diego County beaches.

Hold onto your boards because we've got a tsunami advisory in effect right now. The ocean is looking a bit feisty today with high rip current risks that demand your full attention.

Water temperatures are sitting pretty between 60 to 70 degrees - not too chilly but definitely wetsuit worthy. Today's surf height is holding steady at 1 to 3 feet with a consistent west swell coming in around 270 degrees.

Newport Beach and La Jolla are experiencing some dynamic tide action. We're looking at multiple high and low tides throughout the day. This morning's early high tide hit around 4 feet just after midnight, with another peak coming mid-afternoon.

The rip current situation is serious today. We're talking high risk conditions that could challenge even experienced swimmers. Translation: if you're not confident in your ocean skills, today might be a better day for beach lounging than hardcore surfing.

Good news for tomorrow - things calm down significantly. Rip current risk drops to low, and we'll maintain that same 1 to 3 foot surf height. The west swell will be holding steady, giving you a more mellow ocean playground.

No thunderstorm potential means clear skies and predictable conditions. But remember ocean warriors - respect the water, watch those currents, and stay safe out there!

Catch you on the waves!
