A CDC study shows that the US was the only one of 28 high income countries that saw an increase in pedestrian fatalities between 2013 and 2022, with death rates climbing 50% while the average of the other 27 countries went down by 25%. This is most likely due to the high proportion of large trucks and SUVs used by American drivers compared to every other country.
