Like Ford a couple of weeks ago, General Motors has announced a breakthrough in developing lithium manganese rich cells for next generation electric vehicles that achieve cost similar to lithium iron phosphate batteries with nearly 30% more energy density. The cells will be launched in a production vehicle in 2028.
