TU PopUp #02 : The Backstitch and the Drape (MJ Fox)

Listen Later

My dear Models, today the Manufacture is revising its patterns. The main Fitting Room is temporarily closing its doors to allow us to refocus the Atelier. No more one-sided grace and schedules frayed by the unpredictability of others: we are instituting the "Backstitch" (Le Point d'Arrêt). In this episode, we unpick the myth of "resilience"—that stretchy material demanding we absorb shocks and constantly warp out of shape—to choose "Tenue" (Structure and Drape) instead. By observing the documentary Still on Michael J. Fox and his battle with Parkinson's, we analyze how a garment, even shaken by illness, can maintain its architecture, its balance, and the perfect line of its shoulders. Let us refuse to wrinkle our own fabric to accommodate the unstructured drape of others.

🧵 In this showroom:

  • Why we are closing the Fitting Room to dictate our own cutting line.

  • The "Backstitch": stop financing the delays of others with our own yardage.

  • The body as a ledger, keeping track of our invisible seams.

  • The art of balance: replacing the spandex of resilience with the structure of Haute Couture.

🪡Join the Manufacture: If one size fits none, wear your own. Subscribe to never miss a fitting and slip your own voice notes into our Miroir format.
