Black Wallstreet, Also known as the Greenwood District, was a prosperous African American community in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from the early 1900s to the 1920s. It was named Black Wall Street by Booker T. Washington for its impressive economic growth and success. The construction of Black Wall Street began in the early 1900s when African American settlers arrived in Tulsa after the famous Land Run of 1889, which saw the opening of vast lands in the Western United States.
