Have you ever felt like you had to work your way into heaven? That your good behavior and religious deeds were what made you acceptable to God?

In Haggai 2, God confronts His people with a sobering truth. Even though they were actively rebuilding the temple, their hearts were still distant from Him. Their disobedience affected everything they touched. The problem wasn’t their lack of activity; it was the condition of their hearts. And the same is true for us today.

Through this story, God makes it clear that outward behavior and religious activity cannot clean a compromised heart. But even in His correction, His mercy shines through. He lovingly calls His people, then and now, to Turn Back, realign their hearts with His, and rebuild with renewed devotion.
