Management at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has appealed to students not to let the academic year go to waste. This as clashes broke out on Wednesday between police and students as they burned tyres and barricaded the entrances of two of it’s campuses. Protesters at the main campus went through the institution forcing non protesting students to join them. The protestors then proceeded to the CBD in hopes of shutting down the Arcadia campus but on the way they were met by police reinforcements. Police dispersed the students by shooting at them with rubber bullets. Some students were arrested.
One of the leaders, Vusi Mahlangu explains what went wrong.
