After a big win over Snow College to start the season and then an open date, the TVCC Cardinals return to action Friday against Air Force Academy Prep.
The Cardinals will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to take on the Falcons, who run the typical Flexbone offense employed by the military academies.
"That's when we see dive, dive dive," said TVCC Coach Sherard Poteete. "Can we tackle the dive guy and can we draw out the option on the perimeter."
Coach Poteete said the guys on the defense will have to play their roles and execute their assignments.
"Our defense is going to have its hands full," he said. "They're a well-coached, well-disciplined football team."
Offensively, Coach Poteete said the Cardinals must take advantage of opportunities when they present themselves.
"We've got to turn those red zone trips into seven points," he said. "When we get down there, we've got to convert touchdowns; we've got to get touchdowns."
Kickoff for Friday's game is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT.
The Cardinals will open SWJCFC action against Tyler the following week (Sep. 16) when the Apaches visit Bruce Field.
