(This interview was recorded Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the TVCC Field House with Coach Sherard Poteete.)
By Michael V. Hannigan
It's Homecoming for the Cardinals!
The TVCC Cardinals will host NEO for homecoming this Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 12 p.m. at Bruce Field.
This will be the final regular season game for the Cardinals, who have a 4-2 record in the conference. A win Saturday against the 0-6 Golden Norsemen will secure a playoff spot for the Cardinals.
"I think things can be deceiving when you just look at their record," said TVCC Coach Sherard Poteete, adding that it isn't that easy. "It's not like that in this league. You've got to show up and you've got to play."
Coach Poteete said the Golden Norsemen are particularly good on defense.
"Half their games, they've given up less than 300 yards," he said. "Their defense is really, really good, and so we've got to put a plan together to put some points on the board."
One thing that will help is to eliminate mistakes.
"We've got to cut down on the penalties," Coach Poteete said. "We've got to cut (the opponent's) second chance opportunities down."
